Special-Purpose and Application-Based Systems Non destructive evaluation
The report describes the component of the H/S system SIND (System for Non-destructive Inspections), developed for the acquisition of the signals obtained by inspections based on ultrasound through- transmission. The described component is composed of several hardware modules and of a software module. Hardware modules consist on a couple of ultrasound probes, a pulse generator that drives the transmitting probe and a device for the analog to digital conversion of the signal produced by the receiving probe; the device is connected to the system PC trough an USB port and is controlled by means of a library of specific functions. The software module consists on a program developed in the Microsoft Windows environment, using the programming language Visual Basic 6.0; the module controls the acquisition of the signals obtained in the measurements positions and archives data according to the SIND's specifics.
