Multi-sensor signal acquisition, data processing and data fusion

Signal processing  Sensor Technology  Data Fusion

The webinar describes the basic hardware of the multi-channel acquisition chains typically used in many applications, along with software tools to process incoming multi-source information. Several conventional platforms are commercially available that are characterized by high flexibility and mainly used as reference for industrial, military fields: however, many other civil applications, such as consumer or research projects, may require more handled or innovative solutions. The evolution of electronic technology, often allows acquisition-chain functions to be integrated into a single device (MEMS). In general, row data from the sensors require pre-processing, for instance to correct for noise, distortion or artifacts found in the signal during acquisition. The type of correction provided obviously depends on the specific application and can be carried out by classic, well-known filtering or other special processing algorithms, that is data fusion strategies (based on logical concepts and cognitive models, using fuzzy logic) etc. Examples for the seminar topics also include recent and ongoing projects at ISTI-CNR Labs.
