An intelligent platform of services based on multimedia understanding and telehealth for supporting the management of SARS-CoV-2 multi-pathological patients

The combination of pervasive sensing and multimedia understanding with the advances in communications makes it possible to conceive platforms of services for providing telehealth solutions responding to the current needs of society. The recent outbreak has indeed posed several concerns on the management of patients at home, urging to devise complex pathways to address the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) in combination with the usual diseases of an increasingly elder population. In this paper, we present TiAssisto, a project aiming to design, develop, and validate an innovative and intelligent platform of services, having as its main objective to assist both Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) multi-pathological patients and healthcare professionals. This is achieved by researching and validating new methods to improve their lives and reduce avoidable hospitalisations. TiAssisto features telehealth and telemedicine solutions to enable high-quality standards treatments based on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). Three hundred patients are involvedin our study: one half using our telehealth platform, while the other half participate as a control group for a correct validation. The developed AI models and the Decision Support System assist General Practitioners (GPs) and other healthcare professionals in order to help them in their diagnosis, by providing suggestions and pointing out possible presence or absence of signs that can be related to pathologies. Valutazione dell'accessibilità del portale e della app Itinera Romanica (http://ir.j.webmapp.it)

Il presente documento riassume la valutazione di accessibilità effettuata sia sul portale che sulla web app sviluppati nell'ambito del progetto di Itinera Romanica, come richiesto da parte del Centro Regionale per l'Accessibilità (CRA). E' stato necessario condurre sia una valutazione semi-automatica, per determinare possibili non conformità rispetto ai requisiti di accessibilità richiamati anche dalla normativa italiana, così come una valutazione ispettiva effettuata sulla base di alcune euristiche di base importanti per garantire un buon livello di navigabilità anche tramite le tecnologie assistive usate da parte delle persone con disabilità visiva. Linee guida per pannelli e cartelloni accessibili progetto Itinera Romanica+ dei monti pisani

Le presenti linee guida non hanno la pretesa di essere esaustive, bensì intendono fornire indicazioni pratiche su aspetti che possono ampliare la fruibilità di quanto riportato su un cartellone / pannello. Quanto qui richiamato e contestualizzato può essere reperito anche nelle risorse citate in bibliografia. Le tecnologie richiamate sono a titolo esemplificativo di possibili soluzioni da attuare per ampliare la fruizione di contenuti, ben consapevoli che ciò che è importante è il principio che si deve soddisfare in quanto le tecnologie stesse possono evolvere nel tempo. Ciò significa che se oggi la soluzione adottata per l'aumento dei contenuti si basa sull'uso del QR code, domani potrebbe invece basarsi su una tecnologia più avanzata che è supportata da tutti gli smartphone, come ad esempio la tecnologia ultra-wide band che al momento è presente solo in modelli di smartphone di fascia alta.

Linee guida per la valutazione del logo Joelette dell'accessibilita' progetto itinera romanica+ dei monti pisani

Il progetto Itinera Romanica+ ha, al suo interno la possibilità di consentire l'effettuazione di escursioni, all'interno di sentieri e camminamenti, anche alle persone con disabilità motoria attraverso l'utilizzo della Joelette di cui il Comune di Lucca è dotata, e proprietaria, concedendone l'uso alle associazioni presenti sul territorio lucchese che ne fanno richiesta. Al fine di comunicare, valorizzare e divulgare questa opportunità è importante che vi sia un logo che consenta di individuare, immediatamente e con efficacia, la possibilità di poter usufruire di questo servizio. Si ritiene opportuno evitare la progettazione di nuovi loghi che genererebbe solo confusione, ed incertezza, ma di utilizzare quelli già comunemente in uso in altre realtà nazionali ed estere. Per questi motivi si è preferito effettuare una ricerca su quelli più utilizzati lasciando all'operatore che eroga il servizio la scelta di quello più vicino alla propria attività inserendo, eventualmente, i propri riferimenti per essere contattato dalla persona che necessita di questo servizio.

Nell'ambito dell'allestimento della nuova sala dedicata all'evoluzione umana, di prossima inaugurazione, il Museo di Storia Naturale di Calci ha predisposto una serie di pannelli espositivi che descrivono l'evoluzione dell'uomo. Sign Language GIFs exchange communication system: a PECS-based computer-mediated communication tool for the deaf

Thanks to technological advances, Sign Language (SL), which is used by most deaf people, has gradually been freed from the need for face-to-face interaction. Deaf people used to communicating via SL may experience many problems in writing and reading text contents. LISA - Lingua Italiana dei Segni Accessibile: a progressive web app to support communication between deaf people and public administrations

Most deaf people use Sign Language (SL) to communicate. This usually requires the presence of an SL interpreter to mediate and decode the communication with a non-deaf person. However, the presence of an SL interpreter to support a deaf person can be very difficult, expensive and not always possible, for example during the COVID-19 pandemic which requires limiting contact between people in presence. This work proposes a Progressive Web Application (PWA), called LISA, as a solution to facilitate communication between a deaf citizen and a non-deaf person, thanks to a remote Sign Language Interpreting Service (SLIS). The LISA prototype is designed to promote the communication of deaf citizens with the Public Administrations (PA). This real-time SLIS can be used flexibly on different types of devices (i.e. mobile and desk). This allows PA operators to easily respond to the needs of deaf citizens. Furthermore, to facilitate written communication and to overcome the difficulties encountered by deaf people in writing text messages, the LISA system integrates a text/SL gateway. The user selects items from a gallery of GIF images that represent simple pre-set phrases and words in SL, and the system can also convert them into text. How to effectively implement a multimedia telegram bot

The purpose of this document is to describe the creation of a multimedia BOT for Telegram 1. A bot is a third-party software application that run inside Telegram and performs automated jobs, responding to requests from human users. Users can interact with bots by sending them messages and commands. It is possible to control a bot using HTTPS requests by means of the Telegram Bot API 2 . SelfLens: A personal assistive technology to support the independence of people with special needs in reading information on food items

Grocery shopping or handling food items (e.g. packets, boxes, etc.) can be a very difficult task for people with special needs. Object labels may contain much information that can be difficult to read because the data shown is a lot, and the text is difficult to read by many people. Blind people are unable to get that information autonomously, and many sighted persons (e.g. elderly people and visually-impaired) may have a lot of difficulty in reading labels. Several tools or applications are available on the market or have been proposed in the literature to support this type of activity (e.g. barcode or QR code reading), but they are limited and may require specific skills by the user. Moreover, repeatedly using an application to read label contents or to get additional information on a product can require numerous actions on a touch-screen device. This can make their use inaccessible or unusable for many users, especially while shopping or cooking. In this work, a portable tool is proposed to support people in simply reading the contents of labels and getting additional information, while they are at home or at the shop. Our study aims to propose a portable assistive technology which can be used by everyone both at home and in the shopping, independently from the personal skills and without requiring no smartphone or complex device, and that is a low-cost solution for the user.
