The paper describes one of the components of the modular structure for microwave surface inspection of lapideous materials, developed with the grants of Project SP1a "Nuove tecnologie per l'analisi non intrusiva dei manufatti". The described module contains an embedded firmware which drives the inspection probe according to the instructions transmitted by the acquisition software, running on the host computer; the module performs the analog to digital conversion of the output signal of the probe and send data to the computer. The paper reports the firmware structure, the circuit schemes and characteristics of the components
